Glideo

Screen recordings that edit themselves

What it does

Glideo is a free macOS screen recorder designed specifically for product demos and developer tools. It captures your screen and automatically edits the recording: the camera zooms toward your clicks, the cursor is smoothed, and the final video is composited onto a styled canvas with padding, rounded corners, and a background. No manual keyframing is needed.

The recording and rendering are separate passes. Glideo logs mouse movements and clicks to a timestamped timeline, then plans camera motion based on bursts of clicks. You can adjust the motion later by editing segments on the timeline. Exports support 16:9 for YouTube and 9:16 for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok, up to 4K resolution, with no watermark.

Who it is for

Glideo is built for individuals who create product demos, developer tool walkthroughs, changelogs, tutorials, and documentation clips. It targets macOS users (macOS 14+) who want polished demo videos without spending time on video editing. The tool is free for individuals, with enterprise contracts available for professional use.

Why it matters

Screen recordings often look unpolished: jumpy cursor, static framing, and raw desktop backgrounds. Glideo automates the camera work that separates a professional demo from a casual screencast. By generating zooms and pans from click data, it lets creators focus on the product rather than the editing. The reopenable project format also allows re-exporting when UI changes, saving time on re-recording.

Launch signal

Glideo is in early access. The website notes that some features are still landing and users may encounter rough edges. The app is available for download on macOS 14+. The project is bootstrapped and funded by donations, with no paywall or account required. The founder is Edward Ng.

Brand and naming

The name "Glideo" blends "glide" and "video," reflecting the smooth, gliding cursor motion and automatic camera movement. The branding emphasizes simplicity and automation: "screen recordings that edit themselves." The tagline and feature list focus on removing friction from demo creation, positioning the tool as a time-saver for developers and product teams.
