Pelica
AI workforce for value-based care operations
What it does
Pelica is an AI operating system for value-based care (VBC) that provides a suite of AI copilots to help healthcare organizations manage risk adjustment, quality improvement, pharmacy adherence, provider network coordination, care management, and data analysis. The platform ingests live data from claims, EHR, pharmacy, labs, ADT, and other sources into a single canonical record. Six specialized copilots—Risk Adjustment, Quality & Stars, Pharmacy & Part D, Provider Network, Care Management, and AI Data Analyst—read and write to this shared record, enabling coordinated actions across teams. The system also includes an action layer for outbound voice (TCPA-compliant, multilingual), EMR overlays, provider portals, and coder workspaces.
Who it is for
Pelica serves organizations that bear financial risk for clinical and quality outcomes: health plans (Medicare Advantage, Dual-SNP, regional Blues), IPAs and MSOs with delegated risk, ACOs (MSSP, REACH, CINs), and risk-bearing medical groups (primary care, multi-specialty, DSOs). The typical buyers are COOs, SVPs of Stars, Risk Adjustment, or Pharmacy, Directors of Quality, and VP of Provider Network. The platform is designed for small teams that need to manage large populations without adding headcount.
Why it matters
Value-based care operators face three structural pains: data scattered across multiple systems causing delayed awareness of problems; duplicate outreach to members by different teams; and difficulty translating insights into provider action. Pelica addresses these by unifying data into one record, coordinating workflows so each member receives a single, language-appropriate outreach, and providing an action layer that pushes tasks to providers and staff. The platform claims to replace 8 to 15 point vendors and reduce meeting prep time from 90 minutes to 15 minutes. A customer story describes how a physician-led IPA stopped calling the same patient three times and improved coordination.
Launch signal
Pelica is backed by Y Combinator and has raised seed funding from SurgePoint Capital, Upside Partnership, ISEED Ventures, and Progressive Ventures. The company was founded by two ex-Google AI engineers: Catherine Zhao (CEO) led Google AI work on Gemini and enterprise AI agents, and Lalit Kundu (CTO) built software for regulated industries at Google and YouTube. The platform is SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliant, with a BAA available. It has at least one named customer: HealthCare Partners, where the SVP of Quality & Clinical Revenue Integrity reported that what used to take eight hours per week now takes fifteen minutes.
Brand and naming
The name "Pelica" is short, distinctive, and easy to pronounce, though it does not directly evoke healthcare or AI. The tagline "AI operating system for value-based care" positions the product as a foundational platform rather than a point solution. The brand emphasizes coordination and efficiency, with messaging around "one canonical record" and "AI workforce." The visual identity is clean and professional, with a focus on data and workflow diagrams.
