Sipcode
Keep Claude Code's context clean for sharper answers and lower cost.

What it does
Sipcode is an open-source toolkit that keeps Claude Code's context clean. It rewrites bulky tool calls before they run (the proxy), measures what got saved (the meter), and warns you when a session starts to drift from your baseline (the drift detector). Newer features include re-read dedup that refuses to reload files Claude already has, integrity scoring that tells you how much signal a rewrite kept, and AST-aware reads that return only the symbol Claude searched for. MIT licensed.
Who it is for
Sipcode is for developers who use Claude Code extensively and want to reduce token waste, lower costs, and maintain answer quality. It is designed for users who run Claude Code on their desktop and are comfortable with npm installation and command-line tools. The tool is also useful for teams that want to monitor and optimize their Claude Code usage across sessions.
Why it matters
Claude Code's context window fills up quickly with verbose tool output and duplicate reads, degrading answer quality and increasing costs. Anthropic research shows that leaner context lifts agent reliability by up to 40%. Sipcode addresses this by automatically trimming tool output, deduplicating same-session re-reads, and providing analytics to track savings. On a locked 20-task benchmark, Sipcode achieves a median 62.6% reduction in tool-output tokens. This translates to lower API costs and sharper answers.
Launch signal
Sipcode is available as an npm package (sipcode) and is MIT licensed. It has 1,389 passing tests and is actively maintained. The project is hosted on GitHub and has a dedicated website with documentation, benchmarks, and installation instructions. The tool is ready for use with Claude Code and Claude Desktop (via 15 MCP tools).
Brand and naming
The name "Sipcode" combines "sip" (small, measured intake) with "code," reflecting the tool's purpose: to keep token consumption at a sip rather than a gulp. The tagline "Sip your tokens. Don't gulp them." reinforces this metaphor. The brand positions itself as a lightweight, no-telemetry, open-source utility that respects user privacy and provides measurable value.
